Nail Mail Monday: Nine Zero Lacquer

You guys know how much I love hanging out in my nail blog. I love it so much that I do it aaaaalll the time — ha, ha! This has definitely become a happy zone for me. I love being able to duck in here and spend some time chatting and gushing over polish to escape some of the stresses in my daily life.

So why am I starting off with this? Well, because I am winding up to say that today’s Nail Mail Monday is an extra-special treat for me. Because I have some new Nine Zero Lacquers today! This is such a fantastic brand, and I feel like I don’t buy enough polish from them. I keep saying I need to remedy this, and I know I will — one day. But my funds remain sadly limited. That’s okay, though! Making tough choices means I will bring things I love into my stash. Today, I have two polishes from the Nine Zero Spring collection, and I also have the Into Space Duo.

Spoiler Alert: These are fab!! And they are still available on the Nine Zero Lacquer website!

INTO SPACE DUO:

Nebula is a “teal jelly with holographic sparkles, multi chrome flakies, and purple shimmer”. This polish has a great formula. It is packed to the brim with flakies, but it builds easily and well on the nail. I like it at 2-3 coats. At 2 coats, I could still see some VNL at certain angles.

I am not usually a fan of teal polish. In general, I’m not crazy about the color teal. But this is a BEAUTIFUL polish. As the light plays across your nail, you can see so many colors twinkling through the flakies. There is a lot of purple in here, too. I am not mad about that one bit. The flakie colors pop beautifully against the base, and I love how the blue shimmer kind of mellows out the teal color. Teals tend to be very pigmented, so this might stain. I haven’t worn it in a manicure yet, so I can’t speak to whether this will happen or not.

nzl-astral2-sm

Astral is “a purple jelly with holographic sparkles, multi chrome flakies, and blue shimmer”. This polish has a great formula. Much like its sister polish, Nebula, Astral builds easily on the nail. I am pretty sure I used 2 coats in my swatch picture. I was okay with the opacity at 2 coats, although I felt I could see VNL at certain angles. I am currently wearing this one in a manicure at 3 coats, and I think it is perfect. So I’m going to say 2-3 coats, depending on your nail length, application technique, etc.

Y’all … This polish absolutely stole my heart. I am completely smitten with everything about it. I love the deep and jewel tone to the base color. I love how the blue shimmer looks with the purple base. And the flakes pop the most gorgeous reds, greens, oranges, and even coppery-bronze tones. So stinkin’ GORGEOUS!!! I have this polish on my nails right now, even as I sit here typing this post. And it is mesmerizing.

SPRING 2018:

I thought the whole Spring 2018 collection was fantastic, and I hope to grab at least a couple more from it before they are gone for good. But there were two polishes that jumped out at me so much that I knew I NEEDED them right away.

Robin’s Egg is a “turquoise crelly with multi chrome flakies and gold shimmer”. This polish has a great formula. Crellies can sometimes be a little difficult, but this one is an easy-breezy application. It was nicely opaque for me in 2 coats.

So. Freaking. PRETTY!!! I am dead. Dead from the pretty.

I love the color of this base. I find that a lot of polishes are called turquoise, but they aren’t really turquoise. Instead, they are more aqua or minty in color tone. But this base color is exactly what I think of when I think of the color turquoise. It is the exact color of my favorite turquoise jewelry, and I think it is just spot-on perfect! (Also, how many times can I use “turquoise” in here? Argh! Words fail me!) The flakie colors are beautiful against this base, and the gold shimmer gives the polish a delicate and dainty look, overall.

nzl-springkles2-sm

Spring-kles is a “white crelly base with black, neon pink, pastel pink, orange, pastel yellow, light blue, and aqua glitters”. This polish has a great formula. Seriously … It was so, so, so GOOD. I needed 3 coats for full opacity, but they were easy coats. The polish builds up well on the nail, and it doesn’t look or feel too thick, even at 3 coats.

I. Love. This. That is all.

Okay, so that’s not all. I mean, who are we kidding? This is me. And we all know I can’t stop talking about polish. Can’t stop! Won’t stop! Rawr!!

There are few things that are as much fun as a white crelly. I don’t know exactly how to explain it, but the combo of bright glitters against a white base just does something to me. I love how bright the glitters are in here. I love that the base color is beautifully white, but it’s a soft white. This is like melted ice cream topped with sprinkles — on my nails! (Yeah. I went there.)

THE WRAP-UP:

This was a fabulous order. I have become enamored with a couple of indie brands (hello, Colores de Carol and Quixotic Polish — ha, ha!), so I tend to toss most of my limited nail polish funds at them. It means there isn’t always money left over to expand my collection in other areas. Sadly, I feel like Nine Zero Lacquer fell into that trap for me.

But, I love every single Nine Zero polish I have. This order was no exception. I am super happy I decided to purchase these, and I know I am going to get tons of enjoyment and happiness out of them. What more could one ask for from nail polish?

What’s on deck for the coming week, you ask? Or, possibly you didn’t ask … But I’m gonna share, anyhow. (run away!) My daughter starts school tomorrow. I am approaching the first day of school with an equal amount of guarded excitement and outright dread. But I am still planning on some type of swatch my stash post for tomorrow. I have a few reviews I want to share, too. I am hoping to get at least one of them done this week. And, of course, there will be a weekly mani wrap-up at the end of the week. I’m thinking about starting a new series of favorites from each color, either strictly seasonal colors or a ROYGBIV. I’m not sure yet how I will do that, but I’m kicking the idea around a little. It might be more of a “revisit” than a new series, as I think I started this some time back but never finished it. So I might try to work that in this week, too. But … We shall see!
