About a week or so ago, I got the sweetest surprise package from Jenn W., my IG Nail Bestie!! I, of course, wanted to share the happiness right away. But I made myself wait until I had another Monday. Because, you know: Nail Mail Monday. When we figure out a theme in this blog, we stick to it! Woo Hoo!
Jenn and I “met” rather randomly through Instagram. It didn’t take long for us to figure out we were kindred spirits when it came to all things nail polish. Now, we chat via IG messenger nearly every day. I love showing her all my different mani attempts — whether successful or not! She gives me amazing advice, and I love, love, love seeing all of her manicure endeavors, too! In short, she is awesome! Love ‘ya, gal!!
The first goody in my package of happiness was this beautiful Sinful Colors polish. I love me some Sinful Colors, as you guys already know! And I love me some blue, too! This beauty is called Liquid Iris. There is a sticker on the cap indicating this is part of the “Iridescent Color” line or collection. It is a deliciously dark and gorgeous blue that has flashes of purple. There is silver shimmer in here, too. The formula is good. It was opaque for me in 2 fairly easy coats.
Love it!! This polish is so dark, pretty, and kind of mysterious on the nail. I love how the color shifts from deep blue to indigo to more purple. The purple seems to seep in around the edges of the blue, which is really pretty. And the shimmer is nicely prominent.
Sinful Colors, Set the Dua-Tone is from the 2016 Sinful Illusions Collection — I think. Its cap also indicates it is an “Iridescent Color”, just like Liquid Iris. I’m not sure if they are from the same collection, if this is a continuation of an earlier collection … or what. Sinful Colors is like that. They tend to mystify and confuse me with their crazy collections. This polish is a duo chrome: a soft, purplish-pink that shifts to a silvery blue/purple. The formula is good. It is sheer, but easy to apply. It was nicely opaque on its own in 3 coats in my picture. 2 coats might be okay for everyday wear. I also tried 1 coat over black. (Apologies for my photo. For some reason, the top coat caused some wrinkling of the polish on my ring finger. Weird.)
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. It has a rather pearly/frosty look to it in the bottle. This translates somewhat to the nail, although I don’t think it’s quite as strong. It does show some brush strokes, but not terribly so. Surprisingly, I found I really liked this polish. It is delicate and soft. I would prefer it didn’t show any brush strokes, but this isn’t a deal breaker for me. A month ago, I probably wouldn’t have liked this nearly so much. Now, though … Well, it reminds me of my new “unicorn” hair — ha, ha!
Putting this one over black gave it a very different appearance. It looks much more silvery-blue with really no hints of the pink or purple. I found I preferred it on its own because you can see the full range of colors, from the softly delicate pinks all the way through the purples and into the icy blues.
China Glaze, I Just Canterlot is from the recent My Little Pony Collection. This is a blue-toned purple jelly base packed to the brim with purple and holographic glitter. It’s basically the purple sister to Where’s the Party Canon At. The formula is great. I needed 2-3 coats for opacity in my pictures, just because it is a glitter.
This was the one holo glitter I couldn’t find at any of the stores around me. I couldn’t find it where I live or in my mom’s town, either. Crazy! Not being able to locate it made me want it even more — funny how that works, right? Luckily for me, Jenn located a bottle where she lives, and she grabbed an extra for me. Yay!! Now that I have this little darling in my hands, I find I love it. But I actually like Party Canon slightly more. This surprises me. Even so, I’m thrilled to have this one, and looking forward to wearing it!
Jenn’s Oil! Okay … So this is so freaking AWESOME!! Jenn decided to mix up her own cuticle and hand oil. And she sent a little bottle to me! She used jojoba, calendula, and comfrey oils.
Jenn’s Oil is nicely moisturizing. It applies easily and soaks in quickly. There is no scent, which is a plus for me. There are some scents I enjoy, but I have a lot of allergies. This means I never know when or if a scent will hit me the wrong way. This has inspired me to try my own mixture. I’ve been researching different combinations. I think it’ll be a fun experiment, once I decide what I want to use.
And the last goody in my happy package was a little tube of Jenn’s Balm. This is a combination of jojoba, various herbs, beeswax, cocoa butter, and vanilla.
Fabulous balm! I love it for extra moisturizing around my cuticles, but also on my lips. It is smooth and very moisturizing, and vanilla happens to be a favorite scent. I’ve been loving this!!

I’m so glad you enjoyed this package! That blue/purple duochrome looks so great on you of course. Liquid Iris and Set The Duo-Tone were both from the same display so – from the same collection? I think it’s fascinating how it looks so different over a dark color. I wonder if you could find a creme color that sort of matches the base to put it over? I also think it would look great over deep blue. Or light blue. I think you better bust out the swatch wheel đŸ™‚

Ooooh! I think you are right: I need to bust out the swatch wheel. When I was reading your comment, I suddenly wondered what it would look like over a pink (darker and lighter). And it would be interesting to see it over a blue. And, maybe a silvery polish, too? Hmmm. It was so cool seeing how different the polish looked on its own and over the black. I expect some difference, but that was like two completely different polishes from the same bottle. Wild!
Sinful Colors keeps me guessing with their collections — LOL. They seem to release scads and scads of collections at one time … then nothing for long periods. And I can never tell in my stores which polishes are supposed to be in the displays and which are not. I think people around where I live are not very considerate about putting things back where they belong. >.O It makes sense they would be from the same collection, though, since they both have the same type of lid and sticker on the lid.
