I hadn’t planned to do any more “review” posts until next week. But then it occurred to me that Mother’s Day is this Sunday! I swear, I have lost all track of time due to this move and having our house listed for sale. My life has devolved into a bunch of craziness.
In an effort to be somewhat timely with this post, I decided to hop in here with the Mother’s Day Duo for 2019. I don’t always go crazy for the Mother’s Day Duo. I always love what Carolina creates, and I always think it’s beautiful. But I am not always smitten with thinking that it is something I will want to wear. This was not the case for me this year. The moment I saw these two polishes online, I was completely smitten!! I love them both, and I foresee getting a lot of wear out of both of them.
#momlife is a “holographic lavender with Aurora shimmer (purple/copper/green) and silver holo micro shreds. This has a great formula. It is soft and somewhat sheer going onto the nail. But it is easy to apply and builds up well to full opacity in 2-3 coats.
Oh my gosh! Lovely, lovely, lovely!!! I almost don’t know what else to say other than that.
I think all the components in this polish work together perfectly to create a beautiful balance. I love the base color, which seems to sit right between a soft purple and a blush of pink. On me, I feel like it tends to take on more of a pink tone, and I am not mad at this in the least. It is a soft, delicate, and extremely wearable polish. I feel like this is a neutral, but with a bit more “oomph” to it.
Always My Baby is a “holographic dusty cornflower blue with Aurora shimmer (purple/red) and silver holo micro flakes”. This has a great formula. Just like its sister polish, it is sheer and light going onto the nail. But it builds up easily for full opacity in 2-3 coats.
Ugh. You guys! Stick a fork in me because I am DONE! I can’t even with this polish.
Needless to say, it is my favorite from the duo. I’m sure this is no huge surprise. I loved wearing this. I love the mix of blue and gray in the base color. It gives the polish a lot of depth and dimension on the nail. I love the Aurora shimmer in here, particularly the shades of purple. And those holo micro flakes are everything! They reflect the light beautifully. This is a fabulous polish.
I also wanted to post about Carolina’s new(ish?) cuticle oil. I received a little mini size as a gift in my most recent order. This oil is advertised as being light weight, quick to absorb into your skin, and not greasy. It is made with natural oils: Jojoba, Grapeseed, Apricot Kernel, Vitamin E, and fragrance.
I happened to receive the “Summer Melon” fragrance. And I freaking LOVE it!! I love everything about this oil. In the past, I have been pretty hard-core about sticking with my favorite California Mango cuticle oil, which I purchase from Sally’s Beauty Supply. But I have to say I like Carolina’s oil much better. It feels more nourishing and much less greasy on my nails and my skin. As advertised, it absorbs quickly, and it doesn’t leave my fingers looking or feeling sticky and greasy. I love the scent, too, which doesn’t always happen for me.
The cuticle oil is available on the Colores de Carol website. It comes in three sizes: 5ml, 10ml, and 15ml. You can choose from the following scents: Cotton Candy, Summer Melon, Peach, Pineapple Papaya, and Unscented. I can’t speak for the other scents, but Summer Melon is delicious. I love the way it smells. I wish I had a gallon of this stuff! I will definitely be ordering more.
I’m sure it’s pretty obvious that I think Carolina has, once again, hit it out of the park with this beautiful Mother’s Day Duo. (And with her cuticle oil, too!) I love this duo. I feel like the polishes go together really well. I like how all the components in each one work together to create a beautiful look on the nail. I think I will enjoy the heck out of wearing both of these!
The Duo is still available on the Colores de Carol website. Each polish is priced at $11.50 USD individually. Or you can purchase the duo at $20 USD for a slight savings. But wait! There’s more! Colores de Carol is having a Mother’s Day sale. You can find savings codes on their Instagram and FaceBook feeds.
