I’m late with my weekly mani post. School and football season are in full swing. Not that anyone in my house plays football. But my daughter is in the marching band. This means Fridays tend to be extremely busy at our house. We will be back into our normal routine soon. I hope! Until then, I shall make the best of things, even if it means posting later than I wanted or being more scatterbrained than usual. (Although, really, how would anyone tell? Yikes!)
I didn’t have that many manicures this week. I was in a bit of an emotional slump, and I turned (mostly) to my favorite type of polish for a pick-me-up. I’m talking about sparkly, shimmery blues. I love ’em. I can’t get enough of ’em. I own about a gazillion of ’em. Seriously. I think they breed in my storage drawers. I am not mad about this.
First off, I have to repost this manicure from last week. This was my China Glaze OMG water marble using the following polishes from the OMG Flashback Collection: OMG (silver, used as base), TTYL (orange), 2nite (steely blue), DV8 (bright blue/teal), BFF (magenta/berry), and IDK (purple). This manicure has to make another appearance because I started my week off still wearing it. I was so darn happy with how this turned out. I can’t even explain it. I think I mentioned in my last weekly wrap-up that I wore it for four or five days. This is a long time for me. I took it off on Monday of this past week. But not until the late afternoon or evening, which means it counts as a manicure for this week, too. At least, that’s how it works in my mind. So … there ‘ya go.
My next manicure was with Polish ‘M, Ricky. This came into my stash as a total impulse purchase from a Polish Pickup Sale. I think it was the May (2018) sale. So this lovely polish has been hanging around on my need-to-wear-it shelf for some time. This week was my first time doing a manicure with it. You guys … Oh. My. GOSH! I love this polish way more than I thought I would. I liked it in the bottle. But I freaking LOVED it on my nails. It is so bright and shimmery and perfect. And the flakes caught me by the polish loving heart and wouldn’t let go.
This is a good thing, because I happened to break a nail on the last leg of our trip Monday. It wasn’t a horrible break, but it was on the edge of my nail. This meant I ended up filing everything down quite a bit. My nails are now in Shorty McShorty territory. At the time, I was pretty bummed. My nails were at a length and shape I really liked. Now, though, I’m okay with it. I love short nails, too, so we are all good.
My next manicure was with Fanchromatic Nails, Forged in the Heat of Battle. This is another Polish Pickup purchase, and it is also from the May 2018 sale. That sale was themed on the 1990s, and this polish was based off of one of my personal favorite 1990s memories: Xena: Warrior Princess. Needless to say, this polish went onto my wish list about a minute after I saw the online previews of it. It was one of the first things into my cart that month. When I initially swatched it, I was head over heels crazy for it. I couldn’t wait to get it onto my nails. And then … I dunno. I put it on my shelf and never wore it. Until now.
I’m so glad I finally busted this beauty out for a full manicure. I love it every bit as much as I did when I first swatched it. It is steely and kind of icy but with a touch of fiery color from the flakes. I love the color combination. I love the formula. I loved having this one on my nails.
My last manicure for the week was with China Glaze, Blue-Ya. Obviously, I am using a slightly older (it’s about a week old) swatch picture, from before I broke a nail and filed everything down.
I am almost ashamed to admit I’ve had this polish for about 2 years, and I think this was the first time I had worn it in a manicure. What?!?!? How can this be? Well, I’ll tell ‘ya. (Even if you don’t really want to know.) I swatched it, and I put it aside on my need-to-wear-it shelf. But new things are always coming into my stash. Things got crowded and, in an effort to clean up, this polish accidentally ended up going into my storage cabinet. It got lost in there. Poor little polish, all forgotten and alone — along with hundreds of her sisters. It isn’t pretty, but it happens.
No more! Because I rediscovered this beauty while working on a recent fall-themed post. And I knew I had to wear it in a full manicure at last. And you know what? I freaking LOVE it!! It is so dark and moody and a little bit vampy. It fit my mood perfectly today. I love the shimmer in here, which is nicely obvious on the nail. Overall, it’s a gorgeous polish. I’m so happy I finally tried it!
That’s it for my nail week! As I said in the beginning of the post, it has been a week of emotional ups and downs. I haven’t slept well. I haven’t felt well. My allergies are bothering me like nobody’s business — Thanks a lot, Ragweed. My allergy shots this week were seriously unpleasant. And it has been a week filled with worries and uncertainty. I hope next week will be better. In fact, I’m crossing my fingers for it!
