My Week in Nails

I’m running a day late with my weekly mani wrap-up yet again this week. My daughter is officially out of school, which I think I mentioned last week. So this week was our first week of freedom. Needless to say, it’s been a busy week! But lots of fun. I had several posts planned for this past week, but I didn’t get to most of them. Ah well. Life is for living, right? Right!

I did some swatching this week, and this led to me wearing a LOT of manicures — even for me! We were doing fun family activities on my swatching days, so I would swatch a polish or two in between outings. Whatever I happened to have on my nails when it was time to head out for lunch or dinner or a movie became my manicure of the moment. When I got back home, the whole process would start again.

My first “on the run” manicure was with Colores de Carol, Refresh. This is a vibrant pink-to-clear thermal polish packed with glitter. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail about it here because I want to do a review post for this whole trio. So I’m basically just tossing up pics for these in this post.

My next “in between swatches” mani was with Colores de Carol, Wild and Free. This is a vibrant purple-to-clear thermal that is part of the same trio as Refresh.

My next manicure was with Colores de Carol, By The Sea. It is a turquoise or aqua-to-clear thermal. I wore this one for a couple of days, because I saved it for the end of my swatching session. It’s from the same trio as the above two polishes, so, again, I won’t go into much detail about it in this post. But, guys … I freaking LOVED this polish.

Next up was Glam Polish, Do. Or Do Not. There Is No Try. I’ve had this green, flakie beauty for a little while. And this week felt like a great time for wearing it. We have had a LOT of rainy weather lately, but I was lucky enough to catch some sun on the day I wore this. So beautiful! The green is right up my alley, with the slightly golden or yellow undertones. And the flakies are a fantastic contrast. And the holo! Oh my gosh. This polish came alive in the sunlight.

My next mani was Cameo Colours Lacquers, Hex-Sea and I Know It. This is an ocean blue jelly base packed with different sizes and colors of matte glitters. It is a glitter party on your nails! This is a gorgeous polish. I love the blue tone, and I love the mix of glitter shapes and colors in here. I think the glitters look amazing down through the layers of jelly base. It has an ocean or watery feel to it that is perfect for Summer. I wish the base color was a little darker or deeper or something. I don’t love this at 2 coats on my nails, because I feel like the base doesn’t look substantive enough. But it feels kind of thick at 3 coats. So I am a little unsure of this one now that I have worn it in a full manicure. But I love the color and the glitters so much that I want to experiment with it a little more before giving up on it.

And this is the manicure I have on my nails right now. It is a gradient with Colores de Carol: Abbey (pink) and The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight (orange) and OPI, Sun, Sea, and Sand in My Pants (yellow). The stamping is from Born Pretty plate BPL-029 and Funky Fingers, Gesso.

I wanted to do a “sunset” or “sunrise” gradient with orange, pink, and yellow. I, of course, immediately had Scarecrow in mind for the orange. I think it might be my favorite orange polish ever. It’s really too fabulous for words. For the pink and the yellow, I randomly pulled out polishes I thought would work together. Overall, I am mostly okay with how the gradient turned out. But a part of me also feels kind of “meh” about it. When I tested these three polishes together on a piece of paper, they looked great. But as they built up on my nails in the gradient, I felt my orange started to overwhelm my pink. And I don’t love how the yellow looks because it’s a creme finish. I think this is too different from the other two polishes, which makes the yellow stand out more than I want. But (!!) I’m really happy with the stamping. Sometimes, you’ve gotta claim the little victories. I want to try this gradient again, and I already have a different pink and yellow in mind for it.

THE WRAP-UP:

So there you go! My extremely hectic and busy week in manicures. I’m happy I managed to wear some of my newer polishes. I’m really happy I was able to get some swatching done. I’m happy I managed to work some nail art into the mix. And I’m hella happy I shopped my stash a little bit. So, overall, I would call it a great mani week!

Next week, I have big plans for the blog. Big plans! I want to swatch through the rest of my A.England polishes for Swatch My Stash. My Polish Pickup order arrived today, so I hope to have those swatched in time to post a Nail Mail Monday with them. And I have three (THREE!! *.*) Colores de Carol releases: the Patriotic Duo, the Summer Adventure Trio, and the Roller Girl Collection. I have swatches for Patriotic and Summer Adventure done and ready to go, and I hope to have reviews for those up in the coming week. I’m crossing my fingers that Roller Girl will follow soon.

Big plans, you guys. We shall see how it goes in reality.
