All day long today, I was sitting around thinking it was Monday. Well, let’s get real. I wasn’t “sitting around”. I was more or less running around like a crazy lady. But still, I thought it was Monday. That’s the point. But tonight, after I got home from picking up my daughter after her school science fair, I realized: It’s not Monday. It’s Tuesday! And, of course, Tuesday means … wait for it …
More swatch-a-palooza!!! And more Zoya greens. Yay!!
Ness is from the Summer 2016 Sunsets Collection. It is a bright mid-tone green. I think Zoya describes it as a “soft jade”. The formula is good. It’s opaque in 2 coats.
Oddly enough, I somehow did not make any notes on this polish when I went through and swatched everything. I love the idea of a soft jade, but this polish is so bright that it feels minty to me. I don’t think I’m wild about that. I’m pretty sure I bought this polish when it first came out, and I’ve never worn it in a full manicure. Sooooo I’m going to destash this one.
Gemma is from the Spring 2011 Intimate Collection. It is an olive green with shimmer. I can’t decide if the shimmer is blue or purple. It kind of looks like both of those colors, depending on the light. The formula is a little sheer, but it is easy to work over the nail. It is opaque in 2-3 coats, depending on nail length and application technique.
This is a really unusual green. Sometimes, I think it’s really pretty. Other times, I think it’s pretty-ugly. Or is that ugly-pretty? Either way … This polish is a bit of a shape-shifter! I like the shimmer. It gives the polish a little something extra and makes it more unique. I kinda love it because it’s so weird. This one is a keeper.
Arbor is from the Summer 2017 Wanderlust Collection. This is a yellow-toned medium green creme. It’s on the olive-toned end of the green spectrum, although I feel it’s lighter than Gemma. The formula is really fantastic. It’s opaque in 2 easy coats.
I pretty much love this polish. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think it’s mine. I’ve found in recent weeks that I enjoy any kind of green with a yellow undertone or with gold shimmer. Plus, the formula is amazing. It’s rich and creamy and a joy to apply.
Ivanka is from the Summer 2010 Sparkle Collection. It is a bright, emerald green foil. I think this has glass fleck running throughout it, also. The formula is good. It’s opaque in 2 easy coats.
This polish is gorgeous. There’s no other way to describe it. It’s just drop-dead gorgeous. I love how bright and vibrant it is. But it also has the deep and rich feel of a jewel-tone. I haven’t worn this one nearly enough! It’s a keeper.
Merida is from the Fall 2016 Urban Grunge Collection. It is an evergreen with scattered holographic. The formula is fabulous. It’s opaque for me in 2 easy coats.
This polish is beyond amazing. It is so freaking gorgeous. There are no words. Just no words. It also water marbles like a champ. My bottle is about 1/3 of the way gone, which makes me sad. But I should be able to replace it if need be. This is a keeper.
Giovanna is from the Fall 2013 Satins Collection. It is a bright green with blue undertones. It almost looks like a teal to my eye. It has a liquid metal sort of finish on the nail. The formula is pretty great. It’s opaque in 2 coats, and almost opaque in 1.
I’ve become more and more underwhelmed with this type of finish. But this color is fabulous. It is rich and beautifully jewel-toned. I think I’m going to keep it for now to see if I wear it more in the future.
Olivera is from the Holiday 2016 Enchanted Collection. It is a really dark, blackened forest green duo-chrome that shifts green to purple. The formula is great. It’s pretty much opaque in 1 coat, although 2 coats deepens the color nicely.
I don’t remember the color shift in this polish being very prominent on the nail when I wore this in a a full manicure. When I swatched it again, I found the shift to be much more noticeable than I recalled. I liked it even more when I swatched it the second time! Even without the shift, it’s a stunning dark green. This one is a keeper, all around.
Honor is from the Winter 2015 Matte Velvet Collection. This is a dark, velvety green. The formula is fantastic. It’s opaque in 1 coat. This polish, obviously, dries matte. But it looks fabulous with a glossy top coat.
This is a stunning green. It’s rich and deep and really perfect on the nail. It also stained my nails like a rabid dog. Or … something like that. It stained my nails so badly that I couldn’t bring myself to wear it ever again. And so, I have already destashed this one.
That brings my Zoya greens to a close. I think I’ve mentioned before that I’ve never thought much about the color green. I’ve never considered it a color I wear a lot. Even so, it looks like quite a few fabulous greens have made their way into my stash. And I do wear them. So it looks like I must be more of a “green gal” than I thought! Learn something new every day during swatch-a-palooza.
Next week, I will start in on my Zoya blues. Not surprisingly, I have a lot of blue polish. Blue is my happy jam, after all. If I’ve counted correctly, I have 27 blue polishes. So I should be able to split that color category into at least 2 posts … maybe 3. We shall see how it goes.
