Colores de Carol Holiday 2017: Caribbean Christmas

Today, I have the Colores de Carol Holiday 2017 Caribbean Christmas Collection to share. This was one of my first Black Friday purchases, and I’m so excited to share it. This collection has six polishes, all with special details and touches. And each polish has a bit of tropical or Caribbean flair to it. Spoiler alert! I loved them all! I know … HUGE shock, right? Actually, there were a couple in here that I wasn’t sure about when I saw them in the bottle and in the initial online photos. But, once I put them on my nails, I found I loved them.

So this collection was the first Black Friday purchase to arrive at my house. Doesn’t it look fantastic all together? (There is one polish in this picture that isn’t part of the collection. It was a little prototype extra I treated myself to, and will show up in a future Nail Mail post. ^.~) The package also came with this adorable package of snowman post-it notes. I love that Carolina always includes special little touches like this. It’s so sweet — like a little extra gift in with all the polish goodness!

First up is Pass the Ponche (eggnog). This is a silver linear holographic packed with blue and silver metallic glitter, iridescent glitter, and silver galaxy holo glitter. The formula is great! It’s opaque in 2-3 coats. I went a little thicker for my coats, and I was happy with it in 2, although I can see a hint of VNL in my picture. I could see this needing 3 coats if my nails were longer or if I used thinner coats.

I love this polish! LOVE IT!! This was one that I was a bit unsure of when I saw it in the bottle shots and initial online pictures. My first thought was kinda, “Meh. It’s a silver linear holographic. Those are everywhere.”

Guys … I was so, so, so WRONG! This polish is so much more than just a silver linear holographic. It is perfect, glittery, and gorgeous. It has a festive and fun look on the nail, and I love the mix of silver base with the glitters. I especially love the pops of blue against the base and the holographic. I also love the name of this one. I looked it up online, and eggnog in spanish is “ponche de huevo”, so this is telling us to get the party started and pass the eggnog. Which is perfect, because this polish is a party in a bottle!

Caribbean Wonderlands is a holographic rose gold with metallic micro flakes and silver holo glitter. The formula is great. It is opaque in 2-3 coats. Again, I went in for slightly thicker coats, and it was good for me in 2, although I might like 3 coats if my nails were longer.

This is another polish that I felt unsure of when I saw it in the first online photos. Now that I’ve seen it in person and on my nails, I love it. This one blew my mind. It is a perfect tone of rose gold. I love the mix of coppery pink and gold in here. It is sparkly and a lovely tone of rosy gold without having a harsh metallic look on the nail. I can’t get over how delicate and soft this one is — a perfect neutral with an added hint of something special and sparkly for the holidays.

Sugar Cookie Mojito is a reddish brown with golden/red shimmer, holographic dust, and holographic micro flakes. I’m starting to sound like a broken record at this point, but the formula for this polish is great. It was opaque in 2 easy coats.

This brown!! Ugh. It is All The Things. I love the red tones in the base color. I also love the pops of red in the shimmer as the light plays over the nail. It is rich and luxurious on the nail, with a warmth that makes me think cozy holiday thoughts.

Palm Tree Topper is a medium green with multi chrome shimmer and holographic flakes. The formula is great! It was opaque for me in 2 easy coats, although I can see a hint of VNL in my photo. Because of that, I think I’m going to call it a 2-3 coater.

This green, though! It is perfectly perfect in every way. It’s not too swampy and not too blue. It’s just right. And the multi chrome shimmer blows me away. It’s like a Christmas tree filled with twinkling lights, right there on my nails!

Santa’s Swimsuit is a cranberry red jelly with red holo glitter, iridescent glitter, medium dots, and holographic silver micro flakes. The formula is … you guessed it: Great! This one was nearly opaque for me in 1 coat, but I ended up using 2 to deepen the color.

This red base is … wowza. I mean, look at it! It’s stunning, bright, and vibrant. I love the slight touches of pink within the red, giving it that perfect cranberry tone without weighing the color down too much. It sizzles off the nail, and is a perfect Christmas red.

Baby, It’s Warm Outside! is a royal purple with blue and pink shimmer and UCC flakes that shift from red to pink to gold to green. The formula is great. It’s opaque in 2 easy coats.

So I saved the best for last. This is my favorite from the collection. This purple is Bomb-Diggity! Do people still say “bomb-diggity”? Did they ever say that? Whatever the case, that’s exactly what this polish is! This base color is perfect. It’s a deep and gorgeous purple, and I love the hits of blue that come off of the shimmer. And those flakes!! Ugh. Those flakes absolutely kill me. I swatched this one last because I immediately knew I wanted to wear it in a full manicure. It’s on my nails now, and I kind of don’t ever want to take it off. This, from a gal who changes her polish nearly every day!

This is a great collection. All of the polishes in here have fantastic formulas. They all look beautiful and special on the nail. You can’t go wrong with any of these beautiful polishes. And, not that I’m one to say you need to go out and buy a whole collection … But, yeah. You NEED this one. I think every polish in here is special and unique.

I love the overall vibe of this collection, and I love how all the polishes fit together as a whole. The color tones in here are quirky, playful, and fun. There is a tropical feeling to this collection, which is refreshing. But it hits a lot of traditional “Christmas” notes, too. Looking at this collection as a whole reminds me of pictures I’ve seen of Key West, all decorated for Christmas. It’s tropical, it’s fun, and it’s time to party for the holidays. Woo!
